A Murder Most Foul

Our second release here on Avenue Q, and this one doesn’t take seven years. A proper postmortem should be out in a couple of days, but I just want to use this release announcement to note that this might be one of my favorite projects ever. I think we accomplished a lot of things we set out to do, within reasonable amount of time (in fact, we are about two days early for Dialogue Jam and a week early for Mystery Jam). No crunch. No stress. What a dream.
Mystery Jam asks for a…well, mystery. The theme for 2025 is “Last Message”, and we have it dual-layered. Lady Anneliese is dead. Her spirit lingers, unable to settle, and her last action is to look for an answer. There is also an actual last message in the game.
The stipulation for Dialogue Jam is no narration. This gives us our framing constraint and everything is written to fit this. Over the course of the story, notes about the murder would be unlocked for the players to reference. To err on the side of caution and respect the spirit of the jam, every one of these notes is written from the viewpoint of Lady Anneliese.
I hope that this would be a delight for someone else the way it was for me.
