The Butterfly Emerges
It’s live! We’re live! Seven years and we’re live! Thank you for everyone who has supported this project, paid us attention, or even just stopped by to look at our page! Enjoy the game, pick up a community copy, leave us comments (good or bad), share us with friends, we hope this brings you as much joy it brings us!
Launch day is where it starts for most people, but for the creators, it’s often a sweet, merciful release (pun intended). As much fun as I had making this, I’m also happy those days are now behind us. We have tested and retested this build over and over again… and yet I’m still crossing my fingers… God knows how many times “this works on our machines” folds beneath Murphy’s Law.
I’ve added this announcement on the main game page but I think it bears repeating: the PC build should work on both Windows and Linux, but we have no way to test the Linux build for now (especially for random distro flavors). Caveat emptor! However, if you buy the game, you will get access for all platforms (including future ones, if any) so we hope that you’ll find something you can play with. The Android version should work on any device within the last 5 years and hopefully some older ones even with some stutters. However, the effects you see may not match the Windows version fully depending on your hardware (the Android landscape is so haphazard I can’t guarantee two Android phones to see exactly the same thing). Honestly, this is my third mobile release and while each time the process is smoother it is always a complete pain.
Mac is so expensive around here and no one around us have one for us to test on, so even if Ren’py can export to Mac, we find it disingenuous to release. This may change later if we gain access to a machine. How about iOS, then? I regret to say this one is a definite no. Lack of test unit aside, Apple Store is a complete hassle and an iOS export requires more work than I can take for now (especially because I’m simply unfamiliar with the Apple ecosystem).
What’s next? We hope to release this on Steam and Google Play eventually. Our currency rate against dollar is so horrible these days that we couldn’t do this in time for the itch.io release. If we do make enough for a Steam page, we may also add more character expressions. Players on itch will also get access to the updated build when it is available. We also have something else in the works, and we do hope it doesn’t take another seven years…
